I saw a posting earlier that mentions where to look while riding.
Another hobby of mine is flying light aircraft, in my case a Piper Super Cub. While flying scanning
the instruments as well outside is very important. In the case of riding I find the instruments are
not quite as important as in flying so you should watch well down the road to see what traffic or
obstacles you have to deal with, but do not get mesmorized by looking at one spot on the road.
I find a general scan from down the road then looking right to left at the edges of the road works
for me, while doing so a quick glance in the mirrors to see what is approaching from behind.
Watch for vehicles around you to see if they a predictable or erratic in there actions. Check
parked cars, if anyone aboard expect doors to open or the car to pull out. In the area I ride I
have to also watch for wild life, I've had deer, moose, porcupines, cats, among other four legged
beasts share the road so have to watch for there eyes reflecting in the light at night.
In general, keep scanning, enjoy the scenery and watch for the unexpected.
Enjoy the cruise.
